The film "AMAL", meaning hope in Arabic, centers around female empowerment and Yemeni culture.
 

Set during the 2011 Yemen Revolution, a young woman decides to join the street protests after yet another electricity blackout in her home town Sanaa. As Amal faces the dangers of the protests, she’s helped by mysterious elderly women who encourage her to use her voice and provide Amal with a guiding light.
